OhSoSa is collaboration between interior designer, Paige Waplington, and photographer, Warwick Locke. “We wanted our designs to be about things that are South African, from hadedas to giraffes, strilitzias to zebras, with maybe a chongololo thrown in there somewhere; these things are all Oh So South African.”

“OhSoSa is our fun place, a place we can let our quirky, zany sides shine without the inevitable confines of a client-based relationship. We want our inner children to drive our designs, and let them lead us to places we so seldom go”.

Blandat was founded in 2013 by the Dutch designer Debby van der Veer, a graduate of the KABK Art Academy in The Netherlands.

BLANDAT is the swedish word that is used to describe a mix of material, colour and technique. It represents the essence that typifies the brand, particularly being hand drawn illustrations with an always visible pencil, combined with many textures brought together which result in prints inpired by Africa.

Blandat currently produces a range of illustrated scarfs and a small range of fabrics. “Le chique d’ afrique” collection has the nice and nasty brought together, in structures and visuals. The collection makes combinations of organic stuctures with man made items that display luxury and wealth. Prints can be big and overwhelming, creating a world wherein one is inspired, confronted and encouraged to be creative. Colours are sometimes found to be wild and clashing. Blandat’s geometric prints are combinations of triangles & blocks with multiple different structures that play with one’s eye in the most strange, yet familiar ways.

Hello Mister Frank is the creative studio of designer and illustrator Frank Conradie, based in Cape Town, South Africa. When not dealing with the dreaded deadlines of advertising projects, Hello Mister Frank likes to focus on creating mural artworks and patterns.

Square Dance Bright square and rectangular shapes of varying colours juxtaposed by neon blue diagonal lines. Gillian was born in North Yorkshire, UK with a Fine Art degree from Newcastle University, UK, having studied textile design. Richard Hamilton, pop artist, tutored first year. I have had various forays into fabric design including hand-painting fabric. From painted fabric I started to make soft jewellery, which eventually led me to designing beadwork. Beadwork is a local skill here in South Africa, and the combination of my designs and beading has proved a winning formula. The beadwork continues, but my designs have subsequently lent themselves to other forms of surface design such as wallpaper and textiles. My inspiration comes from anything and everything in the world around me. From the angles, details, perspective and structure of architecture to the tiniest hint of an idea, which develops and changes as I work on it. My approach is to abstract what I see!

She graduated with a National Textile Diploma from TUT in 1995 She has spent most of her career working in various creative corporate environments, designing everything from furnishing fabrics to fashion, graphics and ceramic tiles.

The artist resides in Cape Town combining skills to create beautiful artworks and textile products spanning across multiple mediums.
Tharien is busy building her own range of products, which includes, jewellery, cushions and hand painted fabrics, to be launched soon at her shop, ‘ThariensTrimorphicArt’ which is in collaboration with Biblliophilia Bookshop in Woodstock.
